The National Clean-Up Day exercise helps to ensure that citizens stay in a clean, safe and healthy environment. This is in accordance with Section 73 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe which guarantees every citizen of Zimbabwe, “the right to an environment that is not harmful to their health and well-being”. It is the duty of every individual across the country to clean their surrounding areas be it places of work, education, religion, recreational and residential premises to manage waste management in the country.
The ZNFPC premises clean-up exercise took place from 0830 to 1000 hours on the first Friday of January 2023. A majority of employees took up cleaning equipment and cleaned the work space environment. Zimbabwe is contributing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 11) on Sustainable Cities and Communities by 2030 and certainly the nation contributes to this vision as shown by the Government in declaring a National Clean-Up Day.
